Coda Conduct is a duo with two members – a pair of them – Erica and Sally.
Smart, fun and infinitely relatable, they have been winning over the hearts of audiences for years with music that is equal parts earnest and irreverent, sincere but still playful.
Their music combines their love of rap and hip hop with pop, dance and electronic influences, delivered with a trademark fast-paced brand of humour and intelligent lyricism. Their instinct for experimentation and collaboration means that their sound is unique and constantly evolving, but always watermarked with their inimitable personalities & chemistry.
This spirit of collaboration can be seen in Coda Conduct’s latest single ‘The Monologue’, which features Sydney songwriter and electronic producer Nyxen, and was produced by jayteehazard (The Last Kinection, A.B. Original) and MSquared (Aloe Blacc, Charlie Collins) – fusing pop, hip hop and electronic elements seamlessly. The song was described by Purple Sneakers as “nothing but sass, wit and great production” and by The Guardian as “an anthem”. ‘The Monologue’ fuses the tongue-in-cheek irreverence of CharliXCX and Lily Allen with the lyrical wit of artists like Chance the Rapper and Lady Leshurr, while adding a heavy dose of the quirky, catchy melodies of MØ or Tove Styrke. It’s a different, more melodic track from Sally and Erica, but the heart of the song is the relatability of it’s message.
“We’re not driven by one ‘sound’ – we want to best capture a certain energy or experience in each of our songs. And that isn’t only about the grand, life changing moments; it’s also about trying to make sense of some of the everyday things that make life what it is.”
