Mike Waters

Introducing, MIKE WATERS. Having spent the past 10 years working in the corporate world it came as a complete shock to colleagues, friends and family when Mike casually revealed he had secretly been writing songs in his bedroom…. Incredible songs.

The first ‘demo’ that he showed people quickly raced to be the number one most-played track on triple j Unearthed and pricked the interest of music industry types both locally and internationally. Since then the Melbourne-via-Adelaide songwriter has been busy writing more songs and the result is his debut EP, LIFE, an honestly written collection of musical gems which has earned comments from critics such as “stunning”, “infectious” and “captivating”.

The EP’s lead single ‘Gambling Man’ explores ideas of taking chances and diving head-first to things even when the odds are stacked against you. Its video was premiered by music blog Happy with a behind-the-scenes short film shared recently as an exclusive by Rolling Stone. ‘Gambling Man’ has received airplay on radio stations across Australia and even received spins in Germany (Flux FM) and the UK (XFM). You can check out the ‘’Gambling Man’ music video HERE and watch a special performance acoustic of the track for The Age sessions HERE.

In his short career so far Mike, has played a residency at iconic The Espy, taken to the stages of New Years On The Hill and The Hills Are Alive festivals, and supported artists such as Jay Brannan (USA), Lewis Watson (UK), Andrew McMahon (US) and Ben Lee (AUS). He sold out 2 headline single launches in Melbourne in April, before taking his EP to packed rooms on an East Coast headline tour in June. In November he performed sold-out debut shows in London (presented by Communion) and Berlin Germany (presented by Flux FM)

Mike’s debut EP LIFE was independently released on May 8, 2015. It saw Mike working with the likes of John Castle, Craig Harnath (Jet, Motor Ace) and Jack Arentz (I Know Leopard, New Navy, Deja). Be prepared to hear a lot more about the incredibly talented and very humble Mike Waters in the very near future.
