Miss June

Miss June is a high-energy 4 piece monster which burst onto the NZ music scene in 2014 with the release of their intensely unapologetic punk EP ‘Matriarchy’. They’ve toured fervently off the back of this 10-minute-long ear punch, sharing the stage with artists such as Foo Fighters, Shellac, Shonen Knife, The D4, Die! Die! Die! And many more keen to harness their support. The group, led by Annabel Liddell, has been described as “some unholy union between Sonic Youth and Le Tigre”.
Combining elements of punk, no-wave and rock they create a sound with melodic hooks and fast driven riffs that are immediately recognisable and entirely their own. Adding to this with Jun Park, Chris Marshall and Tom Leggett’s volatile and enigmatic live performances, there is no wonder why they are the one to watch. Now with the impending release of their debut album it is the perfect time to catch them before everyone else does.
In anticipation of the release of their debut album, Bad Luck Party (scheduled for worldwide release in early 2019) they have been nurturing a more mature sound with the help of local legend Tom Healy in The Lab Studios. While still holding onto their DIY punk attitude, they have been channelling a more post punk/noise-punk sound unafraid and excitingly venturing into new and unexplored musical territories whilst evermore evolving.
This year they have been invited to Australia to perform at the Big Sound Festival in Brisbane which will be another step towards world domination and they are itching to showcase their new songs that will be featured on their debut album through a national and international tour, and once again let the New Zealand/Australian music scene feel their presence through their raw and jaw dropping live shows.
