POW! Negro are a six piece group from Fremantle blending a number of genres such as hip hop, jazz and psych into their own unique sound and relentless high energy live show.
The band have spent the past year of formation trailblazing through the WA circuit selling out headline shows, supporting acts such as Remi, Sampa The Great, Blackalicious and more as well as playing festivals such as Groovin’ The Moo, Southbound and Perth International Arts Festival.
They have recently returned from their debut Aus tour delivering relentless energy to full rooms in Melbourne, Sydney and an instant sell out in Perth as well as being hailed one of the best acts of BIGSOUND from The Music, Rolling Stone and The AU Review among other numerous media outlets. They will be touring Australia again over New Years for Woodford Folk Festival and some other boutique festivals with a second EP slated for release in February.
They have most recently released their debut EP ‘Jasmine & Licorice’ featuring production from David Kennedy (long time engineer/mixer of A Tribe Called Quest). The EP was RTRFM’s local feature and three singles have all featured spins across Triple J and community radio.
