Proving to be an insightful “heartfelt” lyricist, Robbie first stepped onto Australia’s music scene in 2013, as he won triple j Unearthed’s National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs) with his song Don’t Go Walking Away. Robbie was instantly catapulted to attention as he earned a place on tour with The Paper Kites and Don’t Go Walking Away gained national airplay.
Robbie spent much of 2014 and 2015 quietly working away on his debut EP The Faster The Blood Slows, and perfecting his live set-up. Robbie released his first single from the EP (Sunday) back in October 2014, and has progressed through 2015 playing regular shows, including an official Bigsound showcase and two east coast tours, and building up his live performance with producer Nathan Morrison, a set-up of which has been said to “make your knees weak”. With his EP released in October 2015 in conjunction with second single The Pain, of which was immediately added to full rotation at triple j, Robbie is undoubtedly one to watch in 2017.
Enriched with sweet falsettos and spine-tingling nuances that will instantly melt your heart, Robbie’s voice, “warm and caramel wrapped in an excellently crafted vibrato”, is enough to keep you coming back for more.
