Ruby Boots’ music will stop you in your tracks. The rising Australian star, now based in Nashville TN, possesses a red wine-stained soulful voice that crackles with swagger and sorrow. Her fiercely honest lyrics strike deep into your heart while her music delivers an alluring mix of Americana, Rock, Folk and Blues. Leaving home at a young age, to work on pearling boats, is where she found the distance, space and time needed to hone her songwriting skills.
Her first full-length, ‘Solitude’ has been hailed as “a landmark Australian release” and a “world class debut,” while scoring her a Song of The Year award for lead-single, ’Wrap Me In A Fever.’ The ten tunes that populate ‘Solitude’ wrestle with universal themes filtered through Ruby’s captivating combination of vulnerability and strength. She displays an artistic confidence and emotional candour that evokes her heroes like Lucinda Williams as well as such Americana contemporaries as Nikki Lane and Shovels & Rope.
“There’s maturity and intelligence here in spades and the production is of the highest order … It’s the ups and downs of real life live encapsulated in song and Ruby Boots has captured that and more on her world class debut” – The Music
The past two years have seen her receive multiple awards, end up in countless top album lists and share stages with Father John Misty, Justin Townes Earle, Shakey Graves, Kris Kristofferson, Tim Rogers, Oh Mercy, Henry Wagons and many more. Festivals attendees at Out On The Weekend, Port Fairy, Big Day Out, Laneway, Wave Rock, Queenscliff, Moomba, Riverboats and Festival of the Sun have also witnessed Ruby’s telling live show first-hand.
“When you’re invited to share a bill with headliners like Kris Kristofferson, Justin Townes Earle, Shovels & Rope, Nikki Lane, Reverend Horton Heat, and Tony Joe White, you’re bound to learn a thing or two. Yet, in listening to her debut album, one can’t help but suspect that it was Ruby Boots’ own style and savvy that earned her a place on that stage to begin with” – No Depression
After recently being named as a ‘Americana Festival 2016 Showcasing Artist to Watch’ by renowned US magazine, American Songwriter, work on her second record is underway with tracking scheduled for early Jan ’17 and release slated for mid 2017.
“Every day I wake up hungry for it, it’s what I live for. I’m extremely excited and very fortunate to be able to do it. As each day passes I’m more and more grateful for it and it keeps growing. All these beautiful things keep happening and you realise how lucky you are – though I believe you have to create your own luck.” – Ruby Boots
